I thought cats were frightened of snakes etc, but he's not. I haven't seen an adder nor viper here at all

Cats go after anything that moves, Adder - Viper is the same snake, the names are local in various parts of England. Dogs often get bitten on their lips while sniffing as dogd do. Grass snakes (Natrix natrix( are more common, they also taste and smell nasty.

I don't think I ever saw a cat playing with a snake; good thing for Pippin that this one wasn't poisonous! :-O
