The sprout stem eaters.

The sprout stem eaters.
A beautiful day. Chilly but sunshine all the way. I was late up having had a restless night but seemed to get through a lot. Dusted, hoovered, the washing machine was in action, amended my grocery order, checked my bank account and cleaned the bathroom which should have been done yesterday.
In the afternoon I rewarded myself with a visit to Loch Leven's Larder. Bought a couple of Cook's frozen meals and rather a lot of nibbles. They sell lovely little bread sticks, garlic and parsley and tomato and basil. I'll have to put them away in a cupboard and not eat them all at once.
Came back along a little back road full of pot holes. Stakes have been hammered into the verge at Glenvale and the Bonnet Stone. There is parking at both spots but so many people have turned up and been blocking the road which is pretty well single track and used by tractors. Further along I photographed the sheep, parking carefully for about five minutes, then went to Strath for a short walk to bring my step count up to speed. A really nice day all round.

Chrissy, Malik Raoulda, Gillian Everett, Ulrich John and 29 other people have particularly liked this photo

Glad your day went well Jean, Snow here this morning which cleared quiet quickly but remained cold all day. Not much on the menu for the sheep though.

They are very partial to brussel sprout stalks which are sometimes fed to lambs because they are nourishing and produce well fed healthy youngsters.

I wonder if they like them or perhaps they are not fussy eaters. We have still not been out of our valley this year ( other than to get the vaccine) I do admire your get up and go.

Super shot. Even sheep don't eat rows of fodder this neatly but they look to be enjoying the spills from the mechanical sprout stalk chopper! Another sure sign that winter is behind us now!

A lovely sunny scene, but what an intriguing image! I don't know what sprouts may be, but I presume there must have been a temporary fence at the line, to ensure controlled grazing.

Brussel sprouts are a green vegetable that grow up a stalk.. They are like little mini cabbages. They are pretty popular although not everyone is an enthusiast. Often eaten here as part of Christmas dinner for some reason.

A beautifully composed shot, Jean. I love the way in which the two sheep in the foreground are posing for the camera. I certainly can't accuse you of woolly thinking in your approach to taking this pic.

I love Brussels sprouts. I am not sure I would eat a Brussels-sprout stalk, though.

All the best,

Joe

A delightful image Jean............the afternoon light has brought out some fantastic detail in what remains of the sprout crop. There's certainly enough left to keep the sheep occupied for a while yet.

I also like the two sheep in the foreground that appear to be staring at you. They act as a great anchor for the composition. Beautifully captured!

Delightful, Jean. Agree about the two standing, staring sheep, but I also note there are two or three lying down in their dinner.

A couple of posers at the front of this fine shot Jean. The flock is certainly making a grand job of clearing the stalks.
