The unknown visitor(Now ID'd as a female reed bunting).
A fairly relaxed day. All I did was pack prunings into my car and take them to the recycling after which I went to Birnie and photographed birds. The car park was so full I was reduced to photographing through the car windscreen which meant the results weren't that sharp. All the usual suspects appeared and then one that I didn't recognise. For a moment I thought it was a sparrow but the colours weren't right and the pattern especially round the eye wasn't right either. Couldn't find anything in my bird book so, if anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Had a little walk afterwards then came home and pulled up some more ivy before having tea and toast and bramble jelly. And I'm going to have fish and chips later. Bliss !

I would stay with a House Sparrow, plumage can vary but just in case you might find someone who could help here.

I'm afreaid I can't help you with ID here, although it's a lovely shot, Jean.
However I would love to be able to help you with your fish and chips, a luxury that can't be had here for love nor money!

It looks like a Tree Pipit to me not 100% sure . Sparrows have a finch beak which doesn't look like that in the photo .....Lovely capture Jean !!!

She's a beauty Jean. I don't think I have ever seen one in my garden. Although some birds have such subtle differences that it's difficult to tell. Fish and chips sound good :-))

At first glance I also thought "sparrow", but on second looking it isn't! A good capture though, Jean.

Such a lovely little bird...............and you're so lucky to get close enough to photograph it. I've seen them in the wild but only from a long distance (needing binoculars)!

I hope you enjoyed your fish 'n' chips Jean :-)
