The Pego do Altar Dam - originally named "Salazar Dam" - is a dam located in the river of the Alcáçovas, in the Sado river basin, in the parish of Santa Susana (Alcácer do Sal) in Portugal. The Salazar Dam was built in 1949, during the Estado Novo, with a view to the use of water for agriculture in the Sado valley (rice fields of Alcácer do Sal) and for hydroelectric production. Its bay is today a point of high tourist interest, especially for sport fishing. Under the waters is an eighteenth century bridge, but the waters of the reservoir COVERED IT. The artificial lake created by the dam contains 94 million m3 and its area reaches 6.55 km2

And the cattle ?
It is a disaster.
J. Gafarot club has replied to Tanja - Loughcrew clubThat is why the Meteo records from October 2017 up to the end of January 2018, show values of 50 mm in that place, against 600 mm in the Northern region of the country. And that's why I went back there now ( it is only a small drive, 140 km, between my place and Pego do Altar) to see by myself if the public numbers were reasonable or not and unfortunately , they were right.
Thank you for taking the trouble to read it all.
It IS a disaster.
