San Francisco Zoo: Greater Kudu (1 pic below)
Alphabet Site: K is for Kudu!! :D
Would you just LOOK at this magnificent creature?!! What HORNS it has! These are one of my favorite antelopes, and it was so nice to get a picture of both an adult and a juvenile during my visit to the zoo!
From Wikipedia:
The greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) is a woodland antelope found throughout eastern and southern Africa. Despite occupying such widespread territory, they are sparsely populated in most areas, due to a declining habitat, deforestation and poaching. The greater kudu is one of two species commonly known as kudu, the other being the lesser kudu, Tragelaphus imberbis.

119/365: "Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher." ~ William Wordsworth
I decided to walk up on the side of our hill this afternoon to see if there were any new flowers to find. Then I remembered that if I got to the right elevation, I'd find just what I was looking for...and a few minutes later I saw the flash of fire I was hoping for! The Indian Paintbrush flowers were in full bloom!! Better still, the sun was low and making these unusual beauties blaze! They are a sight to behold and I still remember how excited I was when I found them here for the first time! Such a marvelous blossom to grow wild here! :)
William Wordsworth (7 April 1770 – 23 April 1850) was a major English Romantic poet who, with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped to launch the Romantic Age in English literature with the 1798 joint publication Lyrical Ballads. Wikipedia: William Wordsworth

2 other images in notes above! :)
Today Steve and I celebrated the first official trike ride of a friend of ours who bought one after taking Steve's bike on a test ride. His (adult) son joined us and all four of us had a fabulous day on a 17 mile ride with a coffee stop in the middle and wonderful company all around.
After the ride we all went out to dinner at our favorite pizza restaurant with two other bike rider friends and it was so much fun that we didn't get home until after 8!
I didn't bring my camera with me today because we didn't want to worry about the extra security, and I knew that meant I'd be taking a night picture. When we got home, I got my camera, popped on the macro flash, grabbed a cd and a red led flashlight, sprayed water on the cd, and took a bunch of pictures! WHAT FUN! It was neat looking at the images on my computer, such interesting effects at a macro level! I'm sharing my three favorites, I hope you enjoy them! :) (Each is clickable!)
Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) was an American essayist, lecturer, and poet, who led the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century. He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society, and he disseminated his thoughts through dozens of published essays and more than 1,500 public lectures across the United States. This started life as a photo of a Trisha Yearwood cd and then I completely lost the plot :-) Although somewhere along the line I did use a mirror effect filter :-)
And, for 'Sight and Sound' one of my fave MUSIC tracks is "Something's Wrong" by Doug Dillard & Gene Clark.
