Aurora

Aurora
This shot was a long exposure at dawn, well before the sun came up. Plus, it was heavily overcast, so it looks a lot lighter than it actually was. The camera is just a cheap little plastic trashcam which has a plastic lens that isn't very good. But, I had never used this camera before, so now I can say I have. The image was converted to black and white from the expired colour film.

Camera: Jazz 206 (normal setting)
Lens: 27mm optical lens
Film: Snappy Colour 200, (expired)
Shutter Speed: “B” 30 secs.
Date: March 30th, 2018, 6.21 a.m.
Location: Norris City, Illinois, U.S.A.

Developing Chemicals: Unicolor C-41
Water pre-soak: 1 minute at 102 degrees
Developer: 3 ½ minutes at 102 degrees
Water rinse: 2 minutes (to keep chemicals clean)
Blix: 6 ½ minutes at 102 degrees
Water rinse: 2 minutes at approx. 100 degrees
Stabilizer: 1 minute at room temperature
Water rinse: 2 minutes
Kodak Photo-Flo 200: 1 minute

I say that camera has great potential! I like the image, what I suppose some call as "toy camera", "lomography" or "vintage" style.

I know nothing about these cameras, but it looks like you had a lot of fun with it; a very interesting result. I like the grainy texture the exposure produced.

I think the fact that the film was expired may have had something to do with the extra grain! But, you never know until after you've used a particular film what results you're going to get, especially if you pick it up off eBay!

I love the "feeling" in your image, Kenny. It has a real "winter's day" feel to it.

Thanks for including your EXIF too.

wow! you really went for it. the results are great. i imagine you lying on your back holding the camera looking up (though i'm sure that isn't how it happened). and now you know what the camera can do - more reason to use it again.

Hmmm, I see: you had a really long exposure.
So I wonder about the result .... may be, you should do some more experiments with this new camera - try some other subjects (best something, what`s moving really fast).
