I can't think why I haven't seen this church Roger. I lived just outside of Bridgwater for 8 months! Two beautiful pictures and I have made a note for the next time I am down that way.

Thank you Rosa, a church with a fascinating history, Duke of Monmouth surveyed the landscape from the tower before the ill fated battle of Sedgemoor and the interior really is worth a view.

Wow! I feel sick just thinking about climbing that ladder..........I get dizzy standing on a chair to change a light bulb.

Two cracking, if vertiginous, images Roger...........perfect in B/W.

What a lot of history here - Monmouth and Sedgewick. Wow! Our history here goes back less than a hundred years and isn't very interesting.

Great images, Roger. That spire certainly is impressive and I get the impression the ladder is much more recent: I really wonder how these places were built and maintained way back in the 13th century. Oh, and a great link too.

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to tiabunna club
Many thanks George, the ladder is a recent short term addition for inspection or maintenance,
I agree construction was a major achievement, scaffold would have been wooden poles tied with hemp ropes and any pulleys would have been very basic considering the size and weight of the stones.

Hi Roger

Nice composition to show the ladder leading up to the cock..
I wonder what modern CDM regs would say about building such a thing now!!

Best Wishes, and a good weekend
Peter

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Peter_Private_Box club
Many thanks Peter, modern regs would make the cost prohibitive I suspect.
You would want to forget your sandwiches while climbing to the top either.
