Kolton typically "poses" for me when I take pictures of him, and I love having a grandson who enjoys having his picture taken. He is now beginning to realize that he has some degree of control over his life, and from time to time he decides that he doesn't want anyone taking his picture- not even his mom, and he is quick to let us know of his wishes in no uncertain terms.
I like this picture because Kolton was totally oblivious to my being there, and I was able to take advantage of the natural lighting coming from a nearby window. Although taken with the camcorder camera (Sony), rather than my Canon, I think the picture turned out reasonably well. I'm happy that I was able to get a good side profile, without the prepared "cheeeeze" face that Kolton normally gives to his mom or me when we're trying to take his picture. He's changing so quickly, and for a baby that had almost no hair for such a long time, he's definitely making up for lost time.
I hope to be able to document little pieces of his life over the years and maybe present it to him in my later years. Hopefully, he would be mature enough by then to truly appreciate the effort involved.

No "Happy Meals" here...for now.
The local McDonalds Restaurant came into my area when I was a Sophomore in High School. Through the years, the "Golden Arches" were a favorite destination, not only because I'm a terrible cook and most of my meals are from fast-food locations, but because they had a kids playground, making it possible for the parents to eat while their kids nibbled on bites of burgers and chicken nuggets in between slides and climbs through the tunnels.
Alas, its gone... an expansion of sorts, where this particular McDonalds will be re-built to over double its original size. The local franchise has acquired the adjacent property while retaining the original parcel of land. So, while there are no "Happy Meals" being served here now, hopefully the tradition of making parents and kids happy will continue in the near future.
Tornadoes rolled through the Southern United States on April 27-28, 2011. One of the areas hardest hit was Ringgold, GA, a suburb of Chattanooga, TN. These are some pictures shared by my Station Manager at WLMR Radio, Jason McKay, that were taken around his home on April 28. Three people across the street from his house lost their lives in the tornadoes, and Jason and his family were very blessed to be across the street and to escape unharmed. More photos will be placed in the set soon, but Internet and cell service in and around the area is very sporadic, and getting these photos is taking some time.

Kolton demonstrates what he believes are some good uses for the fork. (Fortunately, he didn't succeed in slicing up the plate or the back of the bench. )
Kolton decided he thought it would be fun to color his mom's nose. Taken at Fatz Cafe, Easley, SC, US

Believe it or not, this old building is scheduled for a major overhaul. Developers have announced that this building will be turned into upscale apartments/lofts. (I admire their vision, but they certainly have their work cut out for them.)
You may note that this was formerly a biscuit company. Located in Pittston/Exeter area of PA
