How true, how true!
Even during the current US Government "slimdown," they're keeping open
the parts of the government that collect taxes. Aw. Too bad that
couldn't be "shutdown" too. lol
An old sign I found lying on a shelf at WCPC, Houston, Mississippi (USA)
(NOTE: the American mainstream news media insists on calling this
current political stalemate a "shutdown," which is not technically
true. Parts of the government are still operating, and there are many
provisions that have been made to make sure those dependent upon
government handouts still receive their entitlement checks. Because
the Republicans won't go along with raising the debt ceiling,
allowing our almost bankrupt government to borrow even more money,
they're being made to be the "bad guys" by the news media, while those
who want to continue to borrow beyond our means to repay are being
lauded as the "heroes." (Is it any wonder I hate politics?) And, yes,
we still have to pay our taxes in the interim. The news media
continues to call it a "shutdown" despite ongoing operations at many
levels, including the collection of taxes. Whatever happened to an
honest, upright news media? It's been years since we've seen unbiased
news coverage in America, and I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever
see it again. I'm going to sit down and eat some popcorn and crank up the volume on the television. This should be a good show.)
