Preventing a Disaster [IMG_9983.JPG]
A power crew works to try to stabilize a power pole. The ground was so saturated and soft that the pole was wiggling back and forth in the ground, having no hard soil or ground to keep it in position. It was possible, I guess, that the lines could have snapped, leaving the energized lines and the pole blocking the road. These guys managed to push the pole over in the other direction so that if the lines broke the road would not be blocked. I'm sure they'll be doing more at this location once the rain subsides and things dry out.
=========
Continual heavy rain in Central Louisiana today ("CenLa") resulted in flash floods throughout many parts of the area. The rain and thunderstorms have mostly ended for the moment, and temperatures on my last two days here will be the coldest they've been since I arrived. (I guess I picked a good time to fly out!)
note: these shots may be quite blurry compared to a typical shot. That's because I was getting drenched, and it was very dark and ominous. (It doesn't take me long to take a shot in a downpour!)
