While the look of our closest Fazoli's has changed, I'm very thankful the food is still as heavenly as before. Fazoli's, Columbia, SC (US)

At first glance, it may appear the power pole is learning due to strong wind and rain. Actually, the power pole (with two transformers on it) sits this way even during sunny dry weather. The was taken through a dirty windshield as I was trying to rush back to the hotel in York, PA to avoid getting drenched by the approaching storm.

A power crew works to try to stabilize a power pole. The ground was so saturated and soft that the pole was wiggling back and forth in the ground, having no hard soil or ground to keep it in position. It was possible, I guess, that the lines could have snapped, leaving the energized lines and the pole blocking the road. These guys managed to push the pole over in the other direction so that if the lines broke the road would not be blocked. I'm sure they'll be doing more at this location once the rain subsides and things dry out. ========= Continual heavy rain in Central Louisiana today ("CenLa") resulted in flash floods throughout many parts of the area. The rain and thunderstorms have mostly ended for the moment, and temperatures on my last two days here will be the coldest they've been since I arrived. (I guess I picked a good time to fly out!) note: these shots may be quite blurry compared to a typical shot. That's because I was getting drenched, and it was very dark and ominous. (It doesn't take me long to take a shot in a downpour!)

I'm creating a new type of set today, and these shots are the first pictures going into this set. The new set title is "Pictures taken during times of boredom or nothing to do." Unable to get to sleep in a Tupelo hotel room, I decided to take pictures of homes and trees within view of my window, businesses across the street, and cars going through the drive through of The Steak Escape. (I know. I was really, really bored.) Turning the lights out in my hotel room, I opened the curtains and held the camera and proceeded to take these shots. Since these shots were taken without the benefit of any kind of tripod or stable fixture on which to sit the camera, it's amazing the photos are as clear as they are. (I figure anyone bothering to look at these shots must be as bored as I was when I took these pictures. lol)
