Lovely and colourful! The octogonal discs look great. I guess the bokeh shapes depend on the lens...

Thanks Gudrun. Found this in a Canon blog... Bokeh is affected by the size of the aperture, by the number of aperture blades, along with the shape of the blades. Besides that, the distance from the light source and the DoF in the shot will affect bokeh. Even the type of light, diffused or pinpoint, will change it.

Thanks for the link! So yes, it does -among other things- depend on the lens you use. It would certainly be interesting to try out several lenses and see the differences. Problem is, I'm too lazy for that;-)

They do look round from further away, but seen large they still have their octogonal shape:-)

I did an experiment with the Nikon and had three different shapes!

Hi Gudrun, after some guidance from Ingo, I tried a 100mm F2 lens which delivered the round shapes on the Canon.
