Port Augusta, Arki, Dodecanese, Oceanis 350 'Notos'

Port Augusta, Arki, Dodecanese, Oceanis 350 'Notos'
A delightful, sheltered harbour.

'Arki (Αρκοί) is a small Greek island in the Dodecanese, situated three miles north of Lipsi and eight miles ENE of Patmos. The island has about 47 inhabitants, all in one hamlet in a deep inlet on the SW coast, where there is a small and rather shallow harbour, Port Augusta. It is not a very mountainous island, but very rocky and most of the inhabitants raise animals: sheep, goats, cows, and a few horses.'

Marvellous !... I have always dreamed of pottering around sun drenched islands on some type of craft,,. but alas !.. I have never had, or will have, the wealth. A super shot.. Cheers from > Dj.

Thanks David. At the time, it was not that expensive, a charter in a group of yachts with Sunsail, especially when having four people on the yacht.
Just checked
www.sunsail.com.au
14 nights on Sunsail 34 yacht , 4 people on board, quote A$ 8312. Bareboat charter in June 2023, sailing out of Lefkas in Greece.
Not cheap but pretty good value, flights not included.

Best having our own boat… mine sunk in a cyclone on the West Indies and that was the end of my solitary sailing period…

Awful to lose your boat in a cyclone. We had quite a few Med sailing holidays when we were living in England early 80s. Then in Australia we owned a few boats. We raced the smaller yachts, and cruised on the larger ones, but once you are into keel boats there is so much maintenance. We spent most of our time doing that when we owned our own boats, but still loved it. Each era has its benefits.
