Thanks, William. The woodpecker is a fine choice for that spot.

Ha! And the crane on the middle tower angled to copy the woodpecker. And the sounds the hammers make very similar, I bet.

I hadn't noticed that Steve. Thanks.

Something that Toronto is badly in need of, George. Thanks.

What a great find.........and a delightful capture John.

Thanks, Keith. This was particularly delightful for me, since in my old neighbourhood in Toronto you'd see and hear them on the utility poles making sure they were free of noxious insects. Very socially minded birds.

The buildings are all on the edge of an escarpment that was the old shoreline of the harbour, Jaap, so that makes them even more impressive. The Woodpecker Column is on reclaimed land.

Whoops! I was wrong about the buildings being on the escarpment. Sorry. They're on the reclaimed land. They're just tall.

A nice piece of artwork, John, that contrasts well with its urban setting. Have a great new week. All the best, Joe

I think, I know that place ... but around 2007 there wasn't any of those appartment buildings.
The already mentioned comparison of crane (a bird as well, isn't it?) and woodbecker is very special indeed.

Thanks, Leon. Yes, a crane is a bird and construction cranes are named after them; I didn't notice the resemblance, though, till Steve pointed it out here.
