I recommend the large view (type Z).

Sculpture of Alexander the Great by David Pellettier, at Steve Stavro's grave in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto.

Will S., Roger (Grisly), Ruebenkraut, Sami Serola (inactive) and 12 other people have particularly liked this photo

To Arms! To Arms! The angle is perfect to emphasize the air of derring-do, with perhaps a touch of sarcasm? But one can't be sarcastic under that cloudless, blue sky, or, at least, not for long.

I like the detail and sheen that you caught in the statue.

Thanks, Bob. I liked the angle myself, for much the same reasons. I think I understand the reasons better after reading your comment, so thanks again.

A splendid statue so sharp and detailed, gleaming in the sun and set off by the blue sky.

Of the few statues by Pellettier that I am aware of, this seems to be the most accomplished, Jean. It has a more interesting subject, though, than the others.

Steve Stavros: “ a somewhat reclusive man who hated the spotlight”, according to Wikipedia. I think he must have had a sense of humour. A dynamic shot; where he leads I will follow...

Thanks, Steve. Local knowledge is required to get the full meaning of the quotation from Wikipedia. They say he was reclusive compared to Harold Ballard. Donald Trump is reclusive compared to Harold Ballard.

Now I understand. If Donald wins this election I expect we’ll see him in full Generalissimo’s uniform riding a giant golf buggy.

An unusual perspective John........but it works very well. I like this quirky viewpoint.

The detail in the statue is spot on............I especially like the patina on the metal and the light catching the blade of his sword. Beautiful in the sunshine.

Thanks, Keith. I think the tilt gives it some energy. I especially liked the bright edge of the sword, too.

Tilting at the wind!
I sense there is indeed some irony here.

Al does look as if he's about to fall off his horse, Sarah, but I suspect the tilt is for compositional purposes. I say"suspect" because I can't remember what I was thinking at the time.
