I went there once on business. I had forgotten that it is almost 'country'!
A pleasing shot, the out of focus young lady gives a fine sense of motion.

Thanks, Andy. Years ago I posted another shot of this bench without people, but have since realized the value of people in thes type of shot.

That's intriguing, John, because as I was replying, I had a storing sense of deja vu. Did you post another shot from Manningtree station (on Panoramio purchance?). I recall telling the story of my only visit to Manningtree at least once before on Panoramio or on ipernity!

It could have been here, Andy, although it was taken in 2013 and I didn't start here till 2014. It probably was on Flickr, but I was never on Panoramio. Perhaps the story would jog my memory.

Well, I'm not sure now. I was never on Flikr but joined Panoramio in 2010. I think my query will have to remain unanswered!!

Hurrying to catch a streetcar, and in flip-flops! She does give a strong sense of motion, and if I had just a second to look at the photo, I would have said that the wind was blowing, of which there is no evidence at all. Tromps l'oiel?

She was catching a train, Bob, so may have been walking a bit briskly. As for the wind, it's trompe-l'obturateur, I think.

Whizzing along very purposefully. What's the hurry ? Sit on the bench and enjoy the sunshine. Like her shadow.

The train for Norwich was about to pull out, Jean. But yes, she would have probably been better off to get there early and bask on the bench.

One of the advantages of this station, Jos´. There's a line from here to Harwich which is pleasingly rustic.

She could be, Ulrich. There are a lot of commuters on this train.

What I hate, George, is people ducking to get out of your shot. I've thought about carrying a sign that says "please walk in front of me". They duck even when you're shooting upward at a 60-degree angle.

A fast passenger, anyway, Fred. A local train, though, or, as we say here, the milk run (from the trains that used to stop at each dairy farm to pick up milk).

On the Norfolk coast I've seen them growing at 20° angles or more, Denis

What I like about this photo is that you can invent or imagine all sorts of stories. There are narratives here.

I guess from the partial reflection in the upper right that you were actually in the train, shooting through the window. Well spotted and captured; such quick thinking!

Thank you, Steve. That's an interesting point. I like photos with some mystery in them. Yes, I was in the train. I was on the milk run and took photos at every stop. That was the last time I ever took anything good through a train or bus window, too.

Not without falling over every two feet or so, anyway.
