Designed for distancing.

That is an advantage, Jean. In my old neighbourhood in Toronto I would have had far more people to dodge.

The sign at right is a teaser. Even embers ... to receive...? Every emergency ... to return...?

Yes, the lonely strider is distancing, but there is no one to distance from. Is normal life, if we aver return to such a thing, is this a bedroom community for Torontans who don't want to live in the city? Or is everyone sheltering in place, and this would normally be a busy street?

On the photo, there is a funnel effect of soprts - the solidity of the traffic signal and its anchoring cable to the intriguing sign, which draws the eye to the walker.

Thanks, Bob. People from London work in Toronto, but it's too far away to be a real bedroom.community.. Actually, this street is still fairly busy; it's hard to get around here without a car. But pedestrians are rare in normal times, too.

Yes, the snippets are intriguing. And those small dots of color a hallmark of your style: the traffic cone, the pink hat, the turquoise awning.
This looks to me like a street that even under normal circumstances would not have a lot of pedestrians. But what do I know? I'm merely fascinated by your transition from chronicler of urbia to chronicler of suburbia.

Thank you, Sarah. The dots of colour are one of the reasons I prefer colour photography -- you have more options for composition. You are right -- normally pedestrians are rare here. The population density is very low.

A "teaser" suburban streetscape image, with the eye going to the walker but so many other points of detail. I was intrigued by the sign offering to print cheques - as I understand it they're almost becoming unused with online/card payment methods.

Thanks, George. I wondered about the cheques, too. A quick search suggested, though, that this business is still profitable.

Steady on John...............I'm just getting used to your recent photos having no people in and now - two in a row! Not sure I can cope with it :-))

People on the street are a rare sight in this neighbourhood, Keith. You've got to take their picture.

As above, I very much like the juxtaposition of numerous points of interest here. Obviously, needs to be viewed quite large for its qualities to become clear.

Thanks, John. This is my Yves Gaucher style -- he was a Canadian painter and printmaker who did a series of abstract paintings that consisted of directions for the eye.
