Thanks, Ulrich. There are few truly modernist buildings in Toronto, but we have many staid adulterations of modernism.

Taking away the bench was a barbarous act against humanity and art. Although the building is plain, the bench invited people to pause and look beyond its failings of architecture. Even the most unremarkable things have interest in them somewhere, but now the message is to hurry past, to look elsewhere. It is an admission of failure.
