The shots I took of wintry Toronto today didn't work out, so I've recycled a shot of a hockey game in 2015 between two junior teams that today are just memories.

Norfolk winger Martin Friedrich heads for the puck while Komoka goaltender Jason Slavich keeps an eye on it, too. That's the Norfolk in Ontario, by the way.

This was the first and only game in which I saw an Australian player score. And the first and only game in which I have seen an Australian player. And there were two of them!

Jean, Diane Putnam, William Sutherland and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Excitement galore! It never occurred to me that any Australian would play hockey, never mind two of them!

I did some googling, Diane, and was surprised to find that Australia has an 8-team senior league. The two fellows playing for Komoka (who I think were brothers) would have been following on from the Australian season. They weren't with the team long, but may have been traded.

This is a development league. Most of the players are looking to get an NCAA scholarship.

Great shot. Our local team is the Fife Flyers who were founded in the year I was born, so although I don't follow them, I always wish them well.

And it's the oldest professional club in the UK, I see. Norwich doesn;t have a team in their league so I will cheer for Fife.
