Victorville Southern California Logistics Airport (#0431)

Victorville Southern California Logistics Airport (#0431)
A Boeing 747 painted as GE Propulsion Test Platform, at Southern California Logistics Airport (SCLA). Per the airport website, the plane is used as a testbed for new engine design.

SCLA is the former George Air Force Base, the runway is the second longest public-use runway in the U.S.. The runway was extended in 2000 to 15,000 feet to allow for heavily loaded air freight planes to take off in the high heat that occurs in the area during the summer. The only passenger service at the airport is charter flights for moving troops from Fort Irwin. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_California_Logistics_Airport
