LADWP efforts to mitigate the effects of having been draining the inflow for Owens Lake for 100 years. Some portions of the lake will be reflooded, other portions they're only trying to control the flow of toxic dust.

Amazing to think there were paddlewheel steamers on the lake in the late 19th century--

I've yet to see any pictures from that era, but would be interesting to compare. Of course this isn't the only place we've done this (and looks like we're going to be doing even more of it).
