I didn't know the new bridge had a bike and pedestrian path on it. I'm sure the views are incredible. So what's going to happen to the old Bay Bridge? I'd hate to see it torn down, but that's what I'm assuming will be it's fate.

Why I rushed to do the hike up the bridge was because they're in the process of tearing down the old bridge. It's an icon, but the reason for replacement was seismic instability, so better to take down than fall down.

It's a shame that such a beautiful and famous bridge has to be torn down. Even though I can understand the reasoning behind it, it still makes me sad to hear this.
