East Surrey Bus Services 37 (D602 RGJ) in East Grinstead – Nov 1992 (183-05)

November 1992 (approx. 0900) – East Surrey Bus Services Limited was registered in July 1986 although the East Surrey name first appeared with a famous but unrelated business in 1911.
37 (D602 RGJ) was a Plaxton Derwent bodied Bedford YMT new in January 1987 to Richmond of Epsom better known as Epsom Coaches (or in this case Epsom Buses which was the name they used for their bus services).

It had just arrived in East Grinstead on service 524 from Reigate I think.

Note the bus stop which was a legacy from the days when Easte Grinstead was served by the country bus services of London Transport and is typical of the substantial concrete units erected by London Transport. As well as carrying the bus stop flag itself the unit had display panels on each side for timetables or advertising.
