Eastern Counties MB74 (M374 XEX) and MB62 (M362 XEX) in Bury St. Edmunds – 22 Jun 1996

Saturday 22 June 1996 – Fire engines attending a fire at the Mister Chips Fish and Chip Shop blocked St. Andrew’s Street North in Bury St. Edmunds for a while. After the turntable ladder had departed buses were able to run through but the northbound buses had to pass two remaining fire engines parked outside the shop.

In this view are two Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Mercedes-Benz mini-buses with Frank Guy body conversions that were new in 1994. Nearest the camera heading southbound is MB74 (M374 XEX) which was waiting for MB62 (M362 XEX) to pass through on the wrong side of the road heading northbound. When new they carried MG prefixed fleet numbers (MG74 and MG62).
