David Slater at the wheel of Premier Travel Services UTF 478M at Huntingdon - Sat 27 July 1985 (Ref 849-08)
Saturday 27 July 1985 – Here I am at the wheel of Premier Travel Services 269 (UTF 478M), a Plaxton Panorama Elite bodied AEC Reliance which had been new to Cross of Padgate near Warrington in 1974. I had this coach all day first driving empty from Cambridge to Luton in order to work the 0840 departure of service 34 today running through to Skegness. More often than not this was just a Luton-Huntingdon feeder service to connect with the Haverhill-Cambridge-Skegness service 3 which, upon reaching Bedford (0915) also became the feeder service for the joint Premier Travel/Yorks Northampton-Hunstanton-Cromer service 40. Passenger numbers were such that two coaches were required to and from Skegness which took me through to the coast along with 302 (GFL 528Y) which had worked through from Haverhill. My return journey was as a through service 3 from Skegness to Cambridge duplicating 302 which covered Skegness to Haverhill. Taken at Huntingdon during the wait for 275 (RVE 297S) which did the feeder service back to Bedford and Luton. I am displaying my PSV Drivers Badge pinned near my trouser pocket. (Ref: 849-08)
