East Kent Road Car Co 7650 (XJJ 650V) - 30 June 1995 (Ref 274-32)
Friday 30 June 1995 (approx 1400) - East Kent Road Car Company (Stagecoach owned) 7650 (XJJ 650V), an Eastern Coachworks bodied Bristol VR, seen passing beneath the arch of Westgate Tower in Canterbury. Generations of medieval pilgrims passed under the arch on their way to the shrine of Thomas a Becket at Canterbury Cathedral. Service buses no longer take this route when heading into the city centre. Outward bound buses use the road alongside the tower which does not involve passing beneath the monument. East Kent was National Bus Company subsidiary bought by its management when privatised and the livery carried is that introduced during the post privatisation period.Stagecoach acquired the business in 1993.
