The neo-medieval pink granite castle dates from the late 19th century (owner is German actor Dieter Hallervorden, but currently it's for sale again). It was named after the one hectare island on which it was built: Costaérès which comes from kozh-sec'herezh in Breton meaning "old drying shed". This is where the sailors used to dry the fish in the sun. It is separated from the beach by the channel of the port of Ploumanac'h and is accessible at low tide.
