Presque trop beau pour être vrai!

Presque trop beau pour être vrai!
This moated castle dates from the 16th century. A dovecote rises in the peninsula adjoining the court. Its unusual size proves (by the number of holes of pigeons it contains) that 800 pairs of pigeons nested there. The property is impressive: 2 hectares of roof, 1 h of moat and more than 5,000 m² of floor.

Roger (Grisly), ColRam, Ecobird, grobi358 and 11 other people have particularly liked this photo

Beautiful images I prefer the second one, the dovecotes were very unpopular because the birds ate everyones crops, one I went in had a revolving ladder to reach all the nesting holes

Thanks Peter. I think in these times they used the pigeons for their fine flesh and their dung but also to carry messages; and probably this mail function made the pigeon an instrument of power! The seigniorial and royal messengers of these times monopolized the right of possession of dovecote, and probably did not care about the peasant's complaints further to the birds eating the crops!!!

Beautifully composed and captured Christa. An attractive castle and great reflections. I love the scattering of Autumn leaves too. Great colours

Thank you, Carol, I'm glad you mentioned the scattering of autumn leaves, because when I took the picture, I deliberately chose that very location for the leaves playing hide and seek in the sun...
