Auch Schnecken schmeckt er - It also tastes good to snails

On closer inspection of these magnificent Oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus), I discovered small slugs (see note), one reddish-brown and one black, which were feasting on the mushroom and had already nibbled on several areas.
Oyster mushrooms are very tasty winter mushrooms and can survive low temperatures thanks to their in-built frost protection. In Chinese medicine (TCM), the oyster mushroom is regarded as an all-round talent and is used to treat many illnesses (cancer, high cholesterol, immune system problems, etc.). However, scientific studies on its effects are rare.
The photo was taken in a mixed deciduous forest, the mushrooms were growing on a tree stump.
