Eine Flechtenrosette - A lichen rosette

Gelegentlich kann man auf der Rinde von Laubbäumen in lichten Wäldern ein fast kreisrundes grünliches Gebilde finden. Es ist eine Blattflechtenart, und zwar die Punktflechte (Punctelia subrudecata). Das Exemplar im Foto hat einen Durchmesser von etwa 6 cm. Diese Flechte wird von Ökologen zur Beurteilung der Luftqualität herangezogen.
Kurz zum Bau einer Flechte: Der "Körper" der Flechte wird von einem jeweils spezifischen Pilz gebildet, in dem sich eine spezifische Algenart eingenistet hat. Beide Organismen leben in einer Symbiose: Der Pilz bietet der Alge Lebensraum und liefert Wasser und Mineralsalze, die Alge gibt an den Pilz Nährstoffe ab, die sie mit ihrer Photosynthese bildet.
