Winterlinge - Eranthis hyemalis - Spring - Winter aconite

Da ist man schon verblüfft, wenn man mitten im Wald auf eine so starke Ansammlung von Winterlingen (Eranthis hyemalis) trifft, die man normalerweise nur in Gärten sieht. Die Winterlinge sind eigentlich in Südeuropa heimisch, werden aber schon seit einigen Jahrhunderten bei uns als Zierpflanzen in Gärten gepflanzt. Inzwischen kommt der Winterling verwildert auch in Weinbergen, Gebüschen und lichten Wäldern vor, wenn ihm die Umweltbedingungen zusagen. Er ist also ein Neophyt, d.h. eine neue Pflanzenart in unserer einheimischen Flora.
Aber Achtung: Die ganze Pflanze ist wegen herzwirksamer Glykoside giftig, vor allem die Knollen!

It is quite astonishing to come across such a large collection of winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis) in the middle of a forest, which are normally only found in gardens. The winter aconites are actually native to southern Europe, but have been planted as ornamental plants in gardens here for several centuries. In the meantime, the winter aconite can also be found wild in vineyards, bushes and sparse forests, if the environmental conditions are right for it. It is therefore a neophyte, i.e. a new plant species in our native flora.
But beware: the whole plant is poisonous because of heart-active glycosides, especially the tubers!
