Kleines Teufelsauge ... Summer pheasant's-eye ...

... is one of the names of this beautifully flowering plant, which from a distance could be confused with corn poppy. However, it is a buttercup, namely Adonis aestivalis, that formerly was very common as a field weed and at the edges of fields in Europe. Due to intensive agriculture, however, this plant species has almost disappeared and only appears occasionally in our fields. A real pity. The plant was found in a large stock on a field slope.
