Eyed Hawk Moth (Smerinthus ocellatus)

It's a fantastic moth, and capture too!
I often saw pine tree hawk moths when I lived in Pinner, Middlesex which was a bit surprising because pine trees were a bit thin on the ground!

Thanks Andy, I think I have some shots of the larva taken last summer somewhere, must really get down to processing more of the images I take! I have never yet found a Pine Hawk, larva or adult even though there are plenty of pine forests around here.

I meant pine hawk not pine tree hawk!

Thank you Xata, they are beautiful when the are in their threat display to warn off predators. They are surprisingly well camouflaged when resting and difficult to spot unless you are actually looking for them.
