O have a knife made by a member of the Canadian First Nations. It also has the head of an eagle beautifully carved. Unfortunately it's made of steel and isn't looking as good as this.

The style is Haida and is a popular export of the west of Canada. Because it is so popular it has also been appropriated beyond the bounds of its originators.

In Canada, the term Eskimo is no longer used to describe northern aboriginal peoples. We use the indigenous word Inuit (the people) to refer to those First Nations people. We have also, for the most part, given up on the term Indian and respectfully refer to them collectively as First Nations or by the name corresponding to their historical roots. (Haida, Cree, Mohawk, Ojibwa, etc.)

thanks for the information, first nations sounds good. It is in a way like the Lapps in Northern Finland, we call them Saamelaiset or Sami people in English.
