Das Schiff (Wind Surf) wurde 1989 auf der Werft Ateliers & Chantiers du Havre in Le Havre gebaut. Im Februar 1990 wurde es unter dem Namen Club Med I in Dienst gestellt und war zu diesem Zeitpunkt der größte Segelkreuzer der Welt. Bis zum 15. Februar 1990 lief es unter französischer Flagge, danach zunächst unter der Flagge der Bahamas. Am 27. April 1998 wurde sie in La Fayette umbenannt. 1997 wurde sie an Carnival Cruise Line verkauft und in Wind Surf umbenannt.

Tja hast durch aus Recht aber während meiner Seglerzeit habe ich beobachtet, dass die meisten dieser gewerblichen Großsegler die Segel nur gesetzt haben, wenn der Wind aus der richten Richtung kam - will heißen, wenn sie ihren geplanten Kurs halten konnten...
