War das eine Extratour nach Grönland oder mit deiner Island-Reise verbunden, Gudrun? – und ging die Fahrt noch weiter nach Norden?
Besonders interessant finde ich das dritte Bild mit dem gehörnten Kopf. Da stecken mehrerer Gesichter drin.

Herzlichen Dank, Volker! Das war eine extra Reise, in Island war ich im Jahr zuvor.
Der Moschusochsenkopf ist ein Klassiker in Grönland, die Tiere dürfen wie die Rentiere ab 01.09. gejagt werden und und werden komplett verwertet. Das gehört neben dem, was aus dem Meer kommt, zu den wenigen Lebensmitteln, die nicht importiert wrden müssen.

A beautiful little collection Gudrun...........I really like the colourful wooden houses and the gorgeous blue skies. The detail you've captured in each shot is excellent.

I'm particularly impressed with the Musk Ox skull, its horns look amazing. I've seen video's of them fighting and I know the skulls are very solid..!!

Thank you so much, Keith! They are so huge, it's hard to believe they are related to goats! I've seen quite a few skulls displayed alongside reindeer antlers- both animals are hunted for their meat.

Für die Inuit sind die Wörter wahrscheinlich leicht auszusprechen ;-) Aber gut, dass es für den Rest der Welt auch noch auf Dänisch auf den Schildern steht, das hilft zwar auch nicht jedem weiter, aber für deutsche Muttersprachler ist Dänisch dann doch wesentlich verständlicher als Inuktitut ;-)

Besten Dank, Uwe! Da brauchst kein Navi, die haben nur ein paar km Straße in den jeweiligen Orten- alle anderen Verbindungen gehen über Wasser. Die Jugend fährt dann ihre Karren den halben Tag lang im Kreis durch das Kaff;-)

eine sehr schöne Serie. Bei uns werden Hirschköpfe präpariert und aufgehängt und auf Grönland Moschusochsenköpfe aufgestellt. Es ist interessant, jedes Land hat andere Eigenschaften.

Herzlichen Dank, Reiner! In Grönland werden Moschusochsen und Rentiere für das Fleisch gejagt, die haben ja kein Vieh im Stall, weil kein Futter wächst. Was man verwerten kann, wird verwertet, der Rest bleibt halt irgendwo liegen- oft hängen die Köpfe und Geweihe auch irgendwo am Geländer beim Haus;-)

Thanks a lot, Carol! Traditionally the Inuit are hunters- whale, seal, fish, musk ox, reindeer. There are some berries in late summer (crowberry and the like), but that's about it. Vitamins in winter came from eating raw liver...
