A nicely composed image Gudrun..........with no shortage of leading lines. Also nicely exposed for the available light. Sharp and detailed where it needs to be. I like the light burst from the street lamps.

Thanks a lot, Keith! Some reflections from shooting through glass but it was reasonably clean;-) With plenty of light sources I just stopped down a little bit and let the camera do the rest, no need to go all manual...

I know some people like to always shoot manual..........and I respect that, but I've paid hundreds of pounds for my cameras which have some great features on them and it seems pointless not to use them :-))

Having said that, it's good to know how to do it all manually when you absolutely have too.

Indeed, there are situations when automatic just doesn't work as you want it to. I always go fully manual with northern lights.
But as you say why shouldn't we use the inbuilt camera functions when they work perfectly! It often saves a lot of time - fiddling around with manual settings I wouldn't have a single sea eagle or whale photo;-)

Die Nordlandsbanen bin ich noch nie gefahren, das möchte ich mal, wenn es heller ist...

Im Bahnhof hat's in Trondheim einen Narvesen für günstigen Kaffee mit Rosinboller und sonstigen Reiseproviant. Für die Toiletten brauchst du Kreditkarte, aber das ist ja fast überall so...Der Wartebereich im Bahnhof drin ist ganz angenehm und die Zuganzeigen sind von da unübersehbar, sodass man nicht zu früh in die Kälte muss.

Ich gehe übrigens am 22.01. auf die Nordnorge, aber umweltschädlich mit Direktflug FRA-BGO;-)

Nach der großen Katastrophe ! Nur noch Leere ! War meine erste spontane Assoziation ! Großartig, Gudrun !

Danke vielmals, Ulrich! Haha, das ist eben Norwegen, da fahren abends um halb 8 nicht so viele Züge...;-) Die Pendler sind daheim und die weiten Strecken werden nur 2-3x täglich bedient.

Großen Dank, bk! Man könnte es meinen, aber Byåsen ist ein Stadttteil von Trondheim und ein Handballverein;-) Auf der Fußgängerbrücke hat's nur ein Grillrestaurant und einen Andenkenladen, an einen Bäcker in der Nähe kann ich mich nicht erinnern.

Lauge wie bei unseren Laugenbrezeln nehmen die Norweger für den berüchtigten glibbrigen Lutefisk (in Lauge eingelegter Stockfisch)...

Leichter Schneefall, so sah es gestern auf den Bahnhöfen zwischen Minden Minden und dem Ruhrpott auch aus, Gudrun. Ich hab's leider nicht so schön wie du fotografiert

Besten Dank, Volker! Bei uns gab es zwar auch Schneefall, aber im Kessel blieb nichts liegen...
Ich erinnere mich an einen Heiligabend, als ich im Zug nach Bochum durch Duisburg kam: die Gleise waren alle komplett zugeschneit bis auf eines, da haben sie alle Züge durchgeleitet, damit wenigstens das befahrbar blieb;-)

Oh, I can relate to your frustration, my notebook does this sometimes too... Usually some update running in the background and pages taking ages to load. In that case I usually go and do something else;-)

Eigentlich bringt jede Jahreszeit bei der Bahn Schwierigkeiten mit sich. Aber so mit Schnee ist das schon eine besondere Herausforderung.

Schönen Dank, Frank! Ach, in Norwegen haben die Loks vorne normalerweise einen Scheepflug, die können damit umgehen. Wenn denn mal doch eine Lawine irgendwo auf der Strecke runtergeht, ist ratzfatz der Schienenersatzverkehr installiert und meist fährt die Bahn nach einem halben Tag wieder.
Ist beim Fliegen ebenso, Frankfurt macht bei ein bisschen Schnee dicht, in Skandinavien fällt kein einziger Flug aus...

Thank you, Steve! It's not needed, there's a generous and well heated waiting area in the station building and passengers only go out onto the platforms when the train is in the station and ready to board. No hassle because every ticket has a reserved seat....

In weather like this all British Rail travel comes to a full stop, and these days, even if the weather is OK, there are no trains running because of strike action. A really lovely night photo - as always, Gudrun.

Thank you so much, Amelia! Deutsche Bahn also isn't what it used to be. Formerly they advertised: everyone's talking about the weather, not DB! These days the joke goes: DB has 4 enemies- spring, summer, autumn and winter;-) And there also is strike action regionally, a small train drivers' union wants to make its mark...

Auf dem Bahnhof scheint nicht der Bär los zu sein, jedenfalls ist er aber größer als ich ihn Trondheim zu finden gedacht hab.
