A breathtakingly beautiful image Gudrun and probably the best sunset image I've seen for ages. I love the sky with it's grey clouds and wonderful colours and the light reflected on the surface of the water/ice is just sublime. The semi-silhouetted foreground is lovely too. I also like the little ice floes dotted around the scene.

Brilliant work.

(I thought from the thumbnail that there was a photographer and a tripod perched on top of the rock. I can see that it isn't, but wouldn't that have been just perfect)?

Thank you so much, Keith! I watched from the warmth of the hotel room, hot drink in hand;-) The rock looked difficult to climb, there were boggy patches in between and I never saw anybody up there. They had some wooden walkways but you had to watch out with a tripod because of the gaps in between.

Thank you so much, Peter! That person is just a cairn and the tripod a triangulation point;-) The problem with the rocks was that there was bog in between them, only some wooden walkways were easy to walk on.

Tausend Dank, Tanja! Ich glaube, da könnte man ewig fotografieren und zuschauen, das Licht ändert sich dauernd. Auch die Eisberge sind mal dichter gedrängt und mal weiter auseinander, je nachdem wie die Flut sie rumschiebt. Im Sommer bei Mitternachtssonne sicher auch ganz toll, nur hat's da zu viele Touristen;-)
