Congratulations on Explore, so deserving! Try not to stress over catching up. You'll get to it when you can and if you don't, well life is just too short Chrissy. Shuttering Yukon, Wendi, sent me a beautiful book about the the Northern Lights and the photographs in the book were breathtaking and I must say your image would be right at home with them. :)

Wendi is so lucky to be living right in the Aurora belt:-) Where I am you cannot even see a proper night sky for all the light pollution.

You are right about catching up, the longer you have been away the longer it takes. And of course at Christmas time I'll not always be at home...

I have seen the lights twice, when we lived in Northern Michigan. The first time they were rather subdued but the second time they were almost alive, moving about the sky with vibrant colors. It was really spectacular and I know I'll never forget them. :)

Well, people in Scandinavian countries earn more and high taxes pay for the welfare state:-) In all rankings Norway, Iceland etc. top the list for quality of living and working conditions.

Thanks a lot, Andy! Bright lights are hated by aurora photographers. Usually you look for dark places but in this case we came from dinner and had to put up with the street lamps;-)

Großen Dank, Lutz! Wenn sich die Lichter bewegen, ist es immer besser, mit der ISO hoch und der Belichtungszeit runterzugehen;-) Bei stationären Lichtern geht 1600 und bis zu 20 Sekunden.

Muchas gracias, Yolanda! WIth bright and moving auroras I like to keep exposure time as short as possible or they look "mush".
