Lúdentsborgir
The crater rows of Lúdentsborgir and Þrengslaborgir (in the background left) erupted ca. 2300 years ago and formed the so called Younger Laxárdalur lava (total volume 2-3 km³) which created Mývatn in its present shape.
The main photo is looking south with the table mountains Bláfjall and Sellendafjall in the background.
The photo in the note is looking north and shows the tuff cone Lúdent which was formed in a hydromagmatic eruption at least 7000 years ago, in the foreground some of the Lúdentsborgir craters.

Gudrun club has replied to sea-herdorf clubAnother stunning volcanic landscape...............showing a land full of scars and craters and still strangely beautiful. I love the diffused light and the hazy view of the mountains in the background. The PiP is also excellent.
Great travel photography Gudrun.
