Farges - Saint-Barthélémy
Looking through the nave of the Église Saint-Barthélémy, constructed within the 11th century, in the small village of Farges-lès-Mâcon. Two aisles on the sites. The pillars, made from bricks, are like small copies of the giant pillars of St. Phillibert in Tournus (8km north). The vault is totally different. But St. Phillibert had this kind of barrel-vault, before it was changed in 1070.
The area around Tournus is dotted with romanesque churches. Nearly every village has conserved it´s church. They are open (not locked up as otherwise) and most of them are not only in a well preserved, but have very interesting details.
