Diamond Willow
Diamond Willow; My very last plein air painting before freezeup! OK maybe the last. I'm reminded of, some years back down in Juneau, on the inland passage, I helped crew a boat during the last freezeup sailboat race of the season. Actually that was the 3rd 'absolutely the last race' that season. Hey, if the wind's good you get in one more sail and if the weather ain't too bad you do one more last painting! -grin-
This diamond willow is over 40 years old, rather ancient for this type of tree. They usually get squeezed out by the birch and cottonwoods long before that, but I've been clearing around it and keeping the bigger threes from crowding it.
Water soluble oils on wood panel, 5 by 7 inches.
