凧 Tako, kites

凧 Tako, kites
凧 Tako, kite.
In Japan, on Shikoku Island, in the mountains above Matuyama, in a small town is a truly delightful kite museum. Small kites, kites big enough to carry a man (some of them have done so), plain, garishly illustrated, magnificently painted, thousands of them! Needless to say kite flying is quite popular in the area.

By the way; one doesn't want to confuse 凧 tako, kite, with 蛸 tako, octopus! Nihongo, Japanese, is such a difficult language for us gaijin. -grin-

Watercolor (Sakura's 'Koi' pans) on Canson's 120 pound cold pressed paper, 6 by 9 inches (15 by 22 cm).

Xata has particularly liked this photo
