CD 231.2 and CD 183 glass insulators in service use Troy, Ohio
Alley between Garfield Ave and S Madison St south of W Race St, Troy, Ohio.

Glass insulators are three CD 231.2 Kimble-820's and six CD 183 Hemingray-71's. I always wondered what the bottom crossarm was used for on many of the poles with mostly the CD 183's (fire or police alarm signal circuits ?). Looks like none of the circuits are in use anymore.

Thanks! There is a substation near by that I shot that has DP&L on a sign.

I doubt the arm with the 183s was fire alarm. With the way it is arranged, I strongly suspect that was another former series streetlight installation.

Looks like an early low-voltage transmission line up above - it's hard to make out what style they are, but definitely not chocolate brown nor radio-treated styles.

Makes sense about the street lighting circuits. That top transmission line are on a lot of the poles I shot using what looks like the same insulators.
