Think he'd mentioned that the Bluffton series lighting system was ripped out not that long ago.

Thanks! Yeah...I posted it on flickr about three years ago. All series street lighting were taken out of service about two years ago.

Thanks Dave! My 300mm prime really comes in handy for these close ups. I need to start doing more wide angle shots showing the whole pole like in my shot before this one. I just tried out my new wide angle lens today doing railroad stuff and was very happy with the new lens. My other one was a bad copy and so soft in the corners. Elton Gish used this photo in his new porcelain guide book because of the loop insulator.

Interesting. Did they strip down all the street lighting wires and leave the electric distribution primaries in place?

Yeah pretty much so. On some poles two wires were remove, which I guess were the series street lighting lines, and then they drilled new holes for the pins and moved some of the wires.
