Costal Redwood

Costal Redwood
California Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) have inspired human beings since the dawn of time. Celebrated the world over, our Redwood Trees stretch from Humboldt County’s vast alluvial plains to the fog shrouded valleys of Big Sur.

A real icon! I found out a couple of years ago that the northernmost redwood tree is a lone specimen 10.84 miles north of the Oregon border in Curry County (as of 2015). It's a young one with small shoots around it. The exact location is kept secret by the botany student who found it. There are also small groves around the Chetco River, some known by the public, some not. I spent the first seven years of my life in that area.
