Our father took us kids for a long holiday to the south of France, exploring new areas, different climate, vegetation, food, language.
I remember the long ride and the tiny space each of us had in the car. Camping. Crickets. Swimming in the river amongst fish, snakes and lizzards. Black and green olives. French fries. Traut. Times, long, long ago .....

I know the sound of crickets in the south of France - really loud. And I remember seeing snakes in a river - it put me off swimming there. It might have been an eel of course. I adore olives. Your memories take me back to our once annual holidays to the south of France.
