yesterday we went on a little trek, wasn't expecting to find spring(s) we just wanted to see the fall colour (that is almost finished) from a higher vantage point.
We dove to Carcross, Yukon.. only about 30 clicks then got the idea we should go up Montana Mountain. This used to be a very accessible road, not so anymore, we should have taken my car, it's a tad skinnier and more ground clearance. (picture of the road I wouldn't let hubby go past in the notes and once past there was huge rocks in the way.. no way in hell was I going the rest of the way)
We had a day filled with warm sunshine, clouds, cold wind, and just plain fall but I wouldn't have wanted anything else. We rarely have time to just toss a day aimlessly away!
We also found an abandoned (wasn't hard to find, right on the side of the road all fenced off with contaminated signs) gold mine site.. that is where these pic's came from.

clickable alternate shot in the notes and in the NOT group

Bruno Suignard, neira-Dan, autofantasia, Gillian Everett and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

the springs are part of an engine that we found in bits and pieces strewn around the site

nice springs, but no gold; it takes a lot of imagination to see those people digging for gold over there....
