Cholla and LYFs

Cholla and LYFs
Off US 93 about 15 miles north of Kingman, Arizona. There are at least two distinct species of cholla here, one of which (seen here) has thick branches and can grow to the size of a small tree. The patchy carpet of Little Yellow (unidentified) Flowers is a result of the recent monsoon rains. Presumably they're gone again in a few weeks.

Mine are the more stick like variety here. How they survive the ice and cold I dont know.. but they love our Summer !

Either way, I don't like 'em! But they make interesting subjects.
