Beaver stump
Aspen gnawed off by a beaver. Burt Canyon, Sierra Nevada, California, USA. In the headwaters of the Little Walker River. This was off a mountain bike trip into the canyon up to the edge of the wilderness area, where bikes aren't allowed. As I've mentioned elsewhere, the beaver have made a big comeback since being hunted nearly to extinction by the early 19th century.
